The Washington Capitals end the California leg of their four-game road trip to Nor Cal and open another straight game series. Tonight it’s the San Jose Sharks. Tomorrow is the all new Seattle Kraken.

Tonight marks the first time the Caps have faced the Sharks since Jan.5, 2020, which resulted in an epic comeback in a 5-4 overtime win at Capital One Arena. The Caps have scored points in six straight games against San Jose, dating from Dec. 4, 2017, outscoring the Sharks 27-15 in that streak.

The Caps held training yesterday at the Sharks facility. TJ Oshie, who is recovering from a foot injury, still walked in a boot but was on the ice in a red jersey. Nic dowd was also on the ice in a regular sweater.

There was a fear, however, as Daniel Spring limped off the ice favoring his right leg. He returned to ice skating on his own while chatting with a trainer before joining the exercises.

Caps head coach Peter Laviolette said after training it was a good sign Sprong has returned to training. He also noted Oshie and Dowd as roster possibilities after being sold out on Friday.

John carlson is on a three-point record and five assists streak. Alex Ovechkin is tied for second in the NHL in goals with 12, while also placing third in points with 26 in games played on November 18. Evgeny Kuznetsov is tied for fifth for points with 20 and fifth for assists with 15.

The other night Ilya Samsonov saved all 34 shots he faced against the Los Angeles Kings, which was his second shutout of the season. He became the fourth goaltender in franchise history to record five shutouts in his first 45 starts, joining Braden Holtby (29 starts), Jim Carey (31) and Rick Tabaracci (45).
