Hazard denies reports of unrest at Real Madrid as Belgian claims he is “very happy at the club”

Eden Hazard has denied claims he feels unstable at Real Madrid, with the Belgian playmaker keen to stress he is “very happy” at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 30-year-old striker has failed to achieve the desired impact since making a € 100million (£ 88million / $ 112million) transfer to Spain from Chelsea to the summer 2019, with insignificant injuries holding him back.

It has been suggested that all sides could look to cut their losses, allowing for new starts, but Hazard insists he remains fully committed to Los Blancos’ cause.

What was said?

Asked about the speculation he continues to generate while in World Cup qualifying with Belgium, Hazard told reporters: “It’s not true that I’m not happy at Real Madrid, I am very happy at the club and you know a player is happy when he plays and scores goals.

“I haven’t played or scored much, but that doesn’t affect the affection I have for the club.

“I’m happy in Madrid, I love my life there. The situation got complicated because of Covid, injuries and all, but a player is happy when he plays minutes, it’s easier to be happy when you score. “

Pressed further on his current state of mind, Hazard added: “You can say whatever you want, but I’m happy there.

“I know I can do good things there and that’s it.

“When I score goals, when I smile again, everyone will say I’m happy, but I’m happy already. It’s just that I can’t play and I can’t score, and that’s what I miss.”

How many goals has Hazard scored for Real Madrid?

Hazard is in his third season with Real but has only made 46 appearances for the club.

During these outings, only five goals have been recorded, including four in 2020-2021.

His final product continues to be called into question with Los Blancos in need of inspiration somewhere, but he appears to be on the sidelines of fitness issues for the time being.

Hazard has started two of Real’s three La Liga games this season, while stepping off the bench in the other, and helped Carlo Ancelotti’s side collect seven points.

He’s on a contract until 2024, which means time is still on his side when it comes to proving his worth in the Spanish capital and defeating skeptics.
