Mask or no mask, don’t pass judgment this weekend

Well, the day has finally arrived! Today, we are pulling off the chin layers that we have been wearing for over a year and finally regaining a sense of normalcy that, frankly, might seem foreign to us at this point.

The masks are finally off, folks!

Whether you are vaccinated or not, chances are you are pretty excited that this will happen. Honestly, though, this is probably where your middle ground ends, regardless of which side of the fence you sit on. Let me elaborate …

People have very strong feelings and opinions about immunization, whether they are for or against it. At this point people have done their own research and their opinion is taken. Personally, I understand both sides of the argument. I decided to do what I think is best for my personal situation and those with which I surround myself on a daily basis. That’s all anyone can ask of you, really. That doesn’t mean, however, that people won’t have an opinion on it. People never seem to care only about their own business, so naturally, yes, whatever you decide, someone will have something to say about it.

This brings me to my point. The mask’s warrant was lifted today. This means there will be more of a mix of masked and unmasked people everywhere you go than at any other time during the pandemic. Here’s what I’m asking: We all want to enjoy our Memorial Day weekend as we see fit. There is no point in fighting with someone based on whether or not they choose to wear a mask.

I will be honest. I will ABSOLUTELY still wear a mask in certain scenarios. For one thing, I can’t tell you how nice it has been not to be involved in grocery shopping conversations over the past year or so. I walked in and out faster than ever in my life. So truth be told, you will probably find me masked in stores even though it is no longer necessary.

At this point, everyone is going to do what they think is right for them. Please don’t do much about it if what’s good for a person isn’t what you think is good for you. Stay in your lane and let’s all try to enjoy our weekend, okay? No mask fights.
