As part of the work carried out by the Mundo Maya Organization to promote the reopening of tourism in the Mayan region, the organization today hosted a press conference to introduce members of the professional media to its virtual business event which will take place from July 27-29, 2021. This is an effort to increase interest in the event which aims to provide a platform where travel and tourism businesses in Mundo Maya regions can network. and organize meetings with tour operators and wholesalers in the Americas.

The event will provide attendees with a three-day period where they can hold 15-minute virtual meetings to identify ways to work together.
Exhibitors representing the tourism sectors of Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico will participate in the virtual event, along with buyers, wholesalers, tour operators and travel agents from the five national markets as well as North American markets such as the United States, Canada, Panama and the Dominican Republic; and South American markets including Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru.
By entering the appointment sections, they can log in under their own registration and access the time slots available for each of the exhibitors and request appointments. Exhibitors will also be able to do the same since they will be able to request meetings with international operators and wholesalers.
Members of the media and participants in general can access the platform and join us for the opening and closing ceremony as well as the destination presentations made by each of the participating tourism ministries, as well as the conference ” Archeology in the Mayan World, New Discoveries and Their Tourist Potential “, which will be presented by Dr Tomas Barrientos.
The Mundo Maya Organization aims to position its region, which once housed the ancient Mayan civilization, as a multi-destination. All Mundo Maya members are open and receive visitors with no quarantine requirement. Although some require a negative antigen test to enter. The CDC places most of the region below risk level 3, the same as the United States and Canada, with the exception of El Salvador and Belize which fall under more moderate risk level 2.
The Region receives tourists from all over the world. Most visitors come from the Americas from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America including Belize and Panama and from southern America Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru and also from the Dominican Republic. In the case of Europe, the largest number of tourists who visit the Mayan world come from Germany, Spain, France, Italy, UK and Russia, and Asia, visitors are mainly received from Japan, Taiwan and Israel.
Generally, in normal years, the entry of tourists to the whole region has exceeded the average of 25 million tourists per year, so it is expected that after the recovery of tourism in the world, the Mundo Maya region can increase the numbers by at least 30 million next year.
There are tourist circuits that tourist operators offer visitors, with all the transport facilities, accommodation and tourist services necessary to visit all the countries in the region. There are also airlines that connect the different destinations and work is currently underway on other air connectivity projects which will be announced in the near future.
