Qatar Airways partners with the Madrid Tourist Office

Qatar Airways has announced a new partnership with Madrid Destino, the tourist office for Madrid, Spain, as part of a strategic move to support the growth of tourism in this vibrant city.
The partnership with Madrid Destino, signed on November 25 this year, is expected to roll out on March 31, 2022, promoting the destination in key markets around the world through a series of joint initiatives.
The Spanish capital has emerged as a new international luxury destination after being designated a Unesco World Heritage Site and recently opening a range of luxury hotel brands, undertaking renovations for sites such as the Plaza de España, as well as several other key developments.
Madrid is also recognized as Europe’s Best Destination for Conventions and Commerce, winning the Best MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) Destination for 2021 in the internationally renowned World Travel Awards.
In a press release, HE Akbar al-Baker, Managing Director of Qatar Airways Group, said: “We invite everyone to experience the vibrant city of Madrid which makes them passionate about travel again. The Spanish city is famous for its rich and varied heritage, as well as for its world-class crafts and artisans .
Héctor Coronel, Tourism Director of Madrid City Hall, said: “The signing of this agreement not only marks an important step in our relationship with Qatar Airways, which has been operating in Madrid since 2005, it also allows us to strengthen our tourism relationships. with the Middle East, one of our main strategic markets.
“The connectivity campaign that the Madrid City Hall tourism department and the Qatari airline are carrying out in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates is targeting a segment that has a significant economic impact on Madrid. This common initiative will allow us to develop the exceptional tourist resources of the city and the new openings in order to encourage visitors with high purchasing power to come to the city of Madrid ”.
Qatar Airways operates 14 weekly flights to Madrid. The airline recently launched its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner passenger plane, with its highly anticipated new business class suite on a number of key routes to Europe, including Madrid. The state-of-the-art aircraft has a total passenger capacity of 311 seats – 30 business class suites and 281 economy class seats.
Qatar’s national carrier continues to rebuild its network, which currently has more than 140 destinations. With more frequencies added to key hubs, Qatar Airways offers unparalleled connectivity to passengers, allowing them to easily connect to the destination of their choice, seamlessly.

The airline’s hub, Hamad International Airport (HIA), was also recently recognized as the ‘2021 World’s Best Airport’, ranking first in the 2021 Skytrax World Airport Awards.
