Toni kroos revealed that he planned to end his career at real Madrid and that he will also be able to sign a contract extension when his current contract ends in 2023.
Having ended his international career 11 years later Germanythe elimination of Euro 2020, Kroos is now fully focused on the rest of his career at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
“I believe that the year 2023 is appropriate, I will be 33 years old”, Kroos said in an interview with Bild.
“I will decide if I will renew [at Real Madrid] for a season or two it’s still open for discussion, but I’m absolutely sure I’ll be retiring at real Madrid. “
Kroos also added that he feels a lack of recognition for what he has brought to the german national team during his 106 international appearances.
“I don’t want to blame everyone in Germany, because there are a lot of fans who like me, but sometimes I felt that some did not like what I did when I was 11 years old,” he noted.
“It’s different in Spain, everyone is grateful to me since my first game seven years ago.”
The midfielder went on to say his international retirement would allow him to rest properly in order to achieve his goals in the Spanish capital.
“I need rest periods that I haven’t been able to have as an international for 11 years”, Kroos added.
