Herbert Ella Angura, one of the project managers

“Team Fundi” will play three professional matches in Segunda B over a period of 12 days.

All matches will be played at Estadio Municipal, Guillermo Amor Av Ciudad Deportiva and Benidorm Alicante Stadium.

The Uganda Select Team Fundi training camp in Spain will be based in Al Faz Del PI.

The showcase was widely distributed to over 200 clubs in Spain and Europe.

International scouts and football intermediaries from 12 other countries are also expected to showcase.

A small team of 22 players and 8 officials was selected from all regions of Uganda on the basis of strict criteria of age, merit and availability.

This showcase is the result of His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s direct interest in the promotion of sport as envisioned in the NRM Manifesto 2021-2026, labeled “Secure your future”.

The project is “Youth for International football”, officially launched on 28e November 2020 at the picturesque Elgon View playground in Tororo.

In attendance were Captain Mike Mukula, the Honorable Richard Todwong, the Hon. Fred Angura and the Honorable Emmanuel Dombo, among others.

The project aims to empower young people with their football skills and connect football talents with the opportunity to play professional football on a global scale.

Uganda will directly benefit from improved citizens’ economy and player remittances.

FestoWeb thanks The Minister of Education and Sports Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni who embraced the event and provided invaluable advice and support.

FestoWeb Sports Management via Angura Ella Herbert and her official working partner GGFI Glasman Group Football International are the main coordinators and expect this event to be an annual activity to showcase our great talent to the world.

FestoWeb expects over the next 3-5 years Uganda to have its first talented players playing in the top 5 football leagues and is expected to qualify for the World Cup based on talent development and retention.

“All of our players have been vaccinated against COVID 19 thanks to the Ministry of Health and are expected at camp next week. Players who are not part of the U 23 CECAFA team are currently training individually ready to join the camp. FestoWeb recognizes the collaboration with FUFA and the Uganda Tourism Board to make this event a strategic opportunity not only to promote football, but also to promote Uganda as a major tourist destination. This project, if well managed, should benefit individual clubs, FUFA, the government and the players, ”Engura revealed.

Retired Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Denis Onyango and Vipers forward Yunus Sentamu will be available as role models for younger players.

Hon. Fredrick Angura and Solomon Ossiya are overseeing the project on behalf of His Excellency.
